Growing Old Can Be Fun, If You Do It With The Right People.

Daily Prompt: Forever Young

If there were a real Fountain of Youth, would you drink the water?

When first reading this my immediate response was ‘YES!’ I would be able to do so much with my life. I’d have enough time to learn anything and everything, I could read and write to my hearts content then travel to anywhere I wanted to and spend as much time as I wanted there.

However, the more that I’ve thought about it my answer now definitely leans towards ‘OH HELL NO!’ I wouldn’t be able to share it with my family or friends and I would constantly be saying goodbye to those I love. Would I even remember my family after such a long time? To me that seems pretty depressing.

I think sometimes we lose sight of just how special it is to grow old, there are far too many people who don’t have that privilege.

I want to be like her.

I want to be like her.

Eventually, you would forget to be grateful for each day and instead of appreciating all the little things that make up a blessed life, it would become more like a never ending Groundhog Day.

Have you seen ‘Death Becomes Her’ ? It’s a dark comedy about the repercussions of what happens after drinking from the fountain of youth.

If you have, then this is what I imagine would happen to me if I were to drink from the fountain of youth as well.

DeathBecomesHer56And it’s not a pretty sight.

I love that movie and you are right, I would look more like Goldie Hawn at the end than Isabella Rossalini.
