Hopefully My Only Hiatus

I’ve been completely off the blogging radar for a week now. As each day passed I felt more and more guilty but I did have a kind of reasoning in my head.

I figured that most people give up on their new year plans in the first week, so if I managed to avoid the first week completely I wouldn’t give up anything, or start something I know I probably wouldn’t finish.

Hey, I didn’t say that the reasoning was very good.  I probably saved you from a week of seriously boring posts since I’ve been in a bit of a boring mood.

However, I have done something strangely out of character which could constitute as something resolutiony (yes, that’s now a word). All week I have kept the house uncharacteristically tidy. (If you want some background info, get it here)

Keeping a house clean, I can do. But keeping it tidy is another story. I’m not a hoarder but having gadgets and pens and paper out quickly turns into a bit of a mess, and now that my little man is getting bigger there seem to be a whole slew of toys that cover the floor of the lounge room.

I’m glad that my child does not enjoy toys that make noise or light up, however his most recent fascination is slamming his little tractor into my shin while I try and stretch next to him on the floor. Anyone want to come visit? Free bruises!

So now that I’m picking up all the toys frequently throughout the day , it’s much easier for me to vacuum, I find vacuuming one of the most satisfying things..cleaning wise.

While we’re on the topic of cleaning, is there anyone else who loves the smell of the vacuum when you’re vacuuming? It’s not a dirty smell. You know the one where the vacuum blows out all that air from it’s body? I suppose this is a different story if you have a stinky pet who sheds stinky hair that reeks your vacuum out.

I know the smell of a vacuum is a weird thing to give a lot of thought to but I did say that I’ve had quite a boring week.

Okay, I’m out so I don’t keep rambling. I promise something of substance will come shortly :)

  1. I’ve never paid attention to the way a vacuum smells, I am usually too busy admiring the nice, neat lines it leaves in my carpet. One of my favorite parts of this task is hearing the crackling when it sucks up the dirty stuff. It makes me feel victorious… I usually cheer out loud.

  2. I LOVED vacuum smell when I was pregnant. Seriously couldn’t get enough of it. Just one of those smells that signals that ‘the house is now clean, you’re done’ (probably because it’s always the last thing I do, haha).

  3. My 14 yr old son has always liked the smell of the vacuum cleaner too, so you’re not alone.
